Genesis Mercado

Genesis Mercado represents individuals and families in complex immigration matters, with a primary focus on removal defense, asylum, humanitarian relief, Special Immigrant Juvenile Status, U visas, and family-based petitions. She regularly advocates for clients before Immigration Courts and USCIS, guiding families through high-stakes proceedings involving detention, protection claims, and family reunification.

Genesis earned her Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri–Kansas City School of Law in 2019 and her Bachelor’s degree from Wichita State University. Her work is deeply rooted in addressing humanitarian issues and serving immigrant communities with culturally responsive, client-centered representation.

In addition to her legal practice, Genesis is the founder of The Ella Initiative, a nonprofit organization that provides scholarships and mentorship to young women in the United States, Mexico, and El Salvador, helping them access higher education and leadership opportunities. Genesis also serves as an Attorney Advisor to Eye of an Immigrant and is an active member of the Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association (KCMBA) and a 2026 mentee of the Association for Women Lawyers of Greater Kansas City (AWLS).
